Font Ideas

We have used a website online (dafont.com) to find fonts to use for our title in our opening sequence. It was difficult to find fonts that suited our scene as it didn't fit the thriller theme. We found 4 fonts that had a relation to our opening scene idea that fit quite well with the theme.
This font is called 'Raptor Kill' which links well to our theme as it suggests the idea of blood and fire.
This second font is named 'Dirty Feature' which has a mysterious and thrilling effect which also applies to the psychotic features of people and how they would write something.

This font is called 'All Over Again' which fits with our opening scene theme as it looks like smudged writing on paper like it was in a rush. This font is very effective and we will most likely use it in our final edit.
This font is called 'Cheap Fire' which links closely to our title and theme of this opening sequence due to the suggestions of fire in our title and storyboard. We may not use this font as it doesnt look as professional as the third font.

Final Idea Storyboard

This is our story board to use on our final edit of the thriller opening scene. We may add more quick and smaller shots to add more effect to the opening scene but this is what we have based our clip on.

Planning of Thriller Opening Scene

Actors/Acressess:
Jogging Woman -Alice Hobson (photo to be inserted)
Man - Tom Gent (photo to be inserted)
We will need a fit young/teen woman who is able to run/jog effectively throughout the filming. This will create a more flowing theme to it otherwise if she was unable to run/jog, it would look messy and out of place.
The actor playing the man in this opening scene should be able to have very neat hair, presenting him as very precise and keen to get things right. This actor does not need to act much, apart from a close up of his hands, mouth and an over the shoulder shot. His face is continuously hidden which presents secrecy and tension.

Costume:
Jogging Woman - Running outfit (Simple leggings, tshirt, trainers, possibly earphones, messy hair in a ponytail)
Man - Dark Clothes (Black Jacket, Jeans, Shoes and neat hair)
The costumes in this open scene should be simple for the girl considering she is a runner, therefore it should be simple easy clothes for example, a tshirt, leggings and trainers. She could also be wearing earphones whilst she runs.
The male actor in our opening scene should be wearing dark clothes, to present a mysterious idea towards this thriller film. Therefore, a black jacket, black jeans and dark shoes should all be worn.

Locations:
Bedroom
A Park

The location for our thriller opening scene is very important as it needs to set a mysterious, tense atmosphere when she is on her jog. The bedroom should be simple and have enough room to film in otherwise the camera could end up being too close to the actress and will look out of place. The bedroom will be used to show the girl getting out of bed, then preparing to go out on her run. This includes doing her hair and adding acessories such as her earphones or shoes.

You're Next Opening Scene Research (Thriller)

Credits:
• Highway Films
• Snoot Films
• YOU'RE NEXT
This opening scene doesn't show the main credits at the beginning of the movie to present the idea of secrecy and hiding towards the audience. No credits are used at the beginning of this Thriller apart from the title, which is written in blood to scare and shock the audience. The two words are written in blood to show that this film will be mysterious and creative but also gory and murderous.
A small amount of dialogue is used in this clip, with only a few words being conversed. This sugests the lack of emotion between the two characters at the beginning of this clip. There is no proper music for the audience to properly hear until the girl puts a CD into the CD Player and begins to play loud music which also had a tense dramatic feel to it. This makes the audience more anxious as they can hear the music instead of being able to hear in case the serial killer is near her. This is when this incidental music fades out which is when the audience realises that this girl is about to get murdered which leaves the audience on 'the edge of their seat'. This causes uncertainty. Non-diegetic music is added to this clip as there are wind chimes creating a noise from outside of the house but the sound is exaggerated to create a tense and nervous atmosphere. One of the last sounds we hear in the clip is the scream of the man before he is about to get murdered by the person in the animal mask.

The camera angles in this clip vary a lot but there are main ones that are used frequently within it. For example, there is the muderers POV as they watch their first 'victim' through the window. This easily presents the young girl to be very unaware and almost innocent compared to this murderer who is supposedly watching her. A close up of a few objects within this opening scene are shown, such as the wind chimes, her ice being put into the glass, the orange juice slowly being poured into it, her feet as she leaves the bed. These all present the idea of tension as it is close upbwhich could be a simple metaphor for the idea of tw murderer being close and ready to kill her. This is a negative connotation of the film as it can worry and scare the audience watching it as it easily builds up suspension and tension. An over the shoulder shot is used when the girl is looking in the mirror then the light flickers on, which causes her to turn around which makes the audience very nervous as they would all be very uncomfortable in her situation.

The mise-en-scene in this clip vary often. For example, the lighting changes throughout the whole opening scene as it is darker when it is outside to connotate that the bad things/people are outside. Most of this low key lighing is used for tension. Masks are shown on the murderers faces to keep them disguised and give the audience a fear due to not being able to identify them.

All of the transitions between each shot are simple and arent used to confuse the audience. This makes the audience feel more tense as each shot is cut to another quickly instead of using confusing and blurry transitions to take their focus away from the scary and nervous atmosphere of the film.
