Editing - December 17th 2014

In today's lesson, we have began editing our final idea for our opening scene.
I believe that this final edit will be better than our previous draft edit as there is a wider variety of shots within it

Planning The Location Of Our Thriller Opening Scene

The locations that we will use in our new idea include different locations within a house, for example, the front door, hallway, kitchen, and bedroom.
Our opening scene can only be set within a house as the idea of the clip will be a young woman coming home from a day out and feeling paranoid if there is a stranger following or stalking her.
Therefore, a variety of shots will be used in our opening scene.

Planning The Costumes For Our Thriller Opening Scene

As we have decided to change our Final Idea for our Thriller Opening Scene, we have had to change the costume that our Actress, Alice Hobson will be wearing. previously, she was in a running outfit, as our idea was to have a girl out on a run and then ending up bumping into a strange man. However, now we have decided on the idea of her coming home from a day out with her friends/family and entering her home, paranoid about the dangers from outside. Therefore, she needed to be in a more casual day-to-day costume. Now, we have her in a simple black skirt, black tights, boots and a rugby top which suggests her youth. Also, for the last two shots, the character is shown in her pyjamas as she is getting into bed.
The actor, Tom Gent will be wearing the same costume as we previously decided as his character is the same. He will still be playing a strange man of which is creating a nervous atmosphere for Alice.

Draft Edit - Into The Fire

Audience Research (Survey)

We have conducted a survey to give us an insight to how the audience feels about thrillers in general. We asked what genre thriller the public liked from Horror, Psychological, Action or Paranormal. The most popular answer was Psychological. This suggests that for our opening scene, we should include some dialogue to present the character as emotionally unstable.
The second question was What is your favourite thriller? The most popular answer for this question was 'The Usual Suspects' therefore the shots and ideas used in that opening scene should be analysed by us to give us an idea of what to put in our own.

From our survey, we discovered that the most popular protagonist is the most fitting for a Thriller film was a detective whose partner had been killed. However, we believe that our idea will still be good as it includes mysterious and thrilling ideas.
Finally we discovered that a person whom of which is mentally deranged makes the audience feel the most uncomfortable. This idea can be incorperated into our opening scene.
Finally, the most popular name for our thriller was 'Into The Fire'. This idea will be used as it was the most popular by far from all of the other answers including; 'Strangers', 'Someone Else's Demons', 'Never Go Alone' and 'Real Nightmare'.
